Monaco authorities urge public vigilance following string of Bomb-related security measures

Monaco Police have warned residents and visitors not to leave bags, suitcases or personal belongings unattended in public spaces, as abandoned objects may be treated as suspicious.

The warning was issued by Monaco’s Direction de la Sûreté Publique in an official press release, amid the current security context in the Principality.

Authorities reminded the public that any abandoned object, including luggage, bags or other items left on the public highway, may be treated as suspicious under standard police procedures.

If an unattended object is reported, police may put a specific security protocol in place. This can include the mobilisation of bomb disposal specialists, the creation of a security perimeter, temporary road closures and, where necessary, the destruction of the object concerned.

The Public Security Department also warned that anyone responsible for abandoning items in public areas could face prosecution.

Residents, visitors and businesses are being advised to keep belongings close, avoid leaving objects unattended, and follow police instructions if a security cordon is established.

The message from authorities is clear: in the current climate, vigilance is essential.
