Vadim Ermolaev has regained consciousness following the June 29 bombing in Monaco. According to Nice-Matin, his condition has improved significantly and Monaco police are now preparing to question him.
Ermolaev, 58, had been hospitalised in Marseille following the attack, in which an explosive device was detonated in the entrance hall of his residential building as he and his family arrived home from dinner.
His partner, Anna Nasobina, remains in a critical condition. Nice-Matin reports that Nasobina, who lost both legs in the blast, has been receiving regular blood transfusions. Doctors have warned, according to the same newspaper, that she may lose her sight, her hearing and her ability to speak as a result of her injuries. These details have not been confirmed by Monaco's official authorities.
The couple's 13-year-old son is being treated at a children's hospital in Nice. His life is not in danger.
The main suspect in the attack, Anastasiia Berezovska, 39, remains at large. Interpol has issued a Red Notice for her arrest on charges of attempted murder, placing an explosive device in a public place and criminal conspiracy.
