Tourrettes-sur-Loup celebrates its patron saint with five days of village tradition

The medieval hilltop village's fête patronale runs through Wednesday, mixing a traditional communal meal, religious ceremonies and funfair rides with concerts, pétanque and a closing DJ set.

Tourrettes-sur-Loup is marking its fête patronale for Sainte-Marie-Madeleine this week, with five days of village celebration running from Saturday, July 18 through Wednesday, July 22.

The programme blends the traditional with the modern: a communal meal and religious ceremonies sit alongside funfair rides, live concerts, a pétanque competition and an evening DJ set, drawing residents and visitors into the medieval village's narrow streets and squares. The full programme is available through the village's tourist office, based next to the Place de la Libération car park.

The event is one of several traditional gatherings that punctuate the calendar in Tourrettes-sur-Loup, a hilltop village of around 4,000 residents in the hills above Vence, better known for its Fête des Violettes each March, which celebrates the Victoria violet variety that has been cultivated locally since the 1880s.
