A vegetation fire broke out Wednesday evening in Nice's Parc des Tripodes, in the Ariane district, prompting the deployment of three water-bombing helicopters alongside around thirty ground firefighters.
The fire was reported around 5pm on rue du Sicou, in a heavily wooded park close to residential housing. Alpes-Maritimes fire services mobilised aerial support in addition to ground crews to contain the spread, with helicopters carrying out roughly ten water drops before the blaze was declared extinguished. The public was advised to avoid the area while operations were underway.
The incident came as Alpes-Maritimes firefighters remained deployed in reinforcement of crews battling a larger blaze in the neighbouring Var department, near Cotignac and Pontevès, which had by Wednesday burned for more than 24 hours.
