SNCF to shut Riviera rail line completely for up to 48 hours

Trains between Marseille and the Italian border will stop running entirely for a weekend next month as SNCF carries out major infrastructure works.

SNCF will fully suspend train traffic on the Marseille to Ventimiglia line for between 24 and 48 hours over the weekend of September 19 and 20, to allow for infrastructure modernisation works, according to France 3 Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur. The closure will affect Marseille, Cannes, Grasse, Monaco, Antibes and the Roya valley, the outlet reported.

Further details on replacement transport arrangements had not been published at the time of writing. We'll follow up with practical guidance for commuters and travellers as SNCF releases more information closer to the date.
