The second suspect wanted over an August 2 burglary in Vallauris that ended with a police officer shooting one of the intruders has now been arrested, according to Nice-Matin, with both men appearing before Grasse's criminal court on Wednesday.
The pair were surprised mid-burglary at a villa on avenue du Château-d'Eau on August 2, in a confrontation that left two municipal police officers injured by tear gas. One officer opened fire, wounding one suspect in the hip before his arrest, while his accomplice fled the scene on a red motorbike and evaded capture for several days. Judicial police have since tracked down and arrested the second man.
Both suspects appeared before the Grasse court this week and have been ordered held in pre-trial detention until their case is heard in September. The officer who fired his weapon was placed in custody under standard procedure following the shooting, and remains under investigation to determine the precise circumstances of the incident.
