Sea Shepherd France published new footage Thursday raising concerns over the wellbeing of two of the eight Marineland dolphins transferred to Spain a week earlier, according to France 3 Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur.
The dolphins, moved to the Selwo Marina delphinarium in Málaga on July 24, were split into the same two groupings they had at Antibes: Lua, Dam and Rocky in one pool, and Joe, Anya, Tux, Kai and Neo in the other. Sea Shepherd, which has deployed volunteers to Málaga to monitor the animals since the transfer, said footage shows Dam remaining motionless at the surface for extended periods while other dolphins swim and dive normally around him. "On his arrival in the pool on July 23, Dam stayed still for two hours, while the other dolphins were swimming and diving normally," the group said in a statement, adding that a week on, he still appears just as disturbed.
The group said several of the transferred dolphins appeared to be eating little or nothing since their arrival, a concern it plans to continue monitoring in the coming days.
