Patrick Bruel cancels Nice date amid sexual assault allegations

Patrick Bruel has scrapped his entire autumn tour, including a planned Nice date, after mounting allegations from around thirty women and multiple ongoing investigations.

Singer Patrick Bruel has cancelled his entire 35-date autumn tour, including a concert scheduled for October 31 in Nice, according to France 3 Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur. The announcement came via Instagram on Tuesday, September 1, with the tour originally set to mark the 35th anniversary of his album "Alors regarde."

Bruel is currently under formal investigation, known in France as "mis en examen," in four separate cases, and holds "assisted witness" status in four more, France 3 reported. Around 30 women have made allegations of violence or sexual assault against him, according to the outlet. He retains the presumption of innocence.

"I note that today this tour has become the embodiment of a debate that goes beyond it," Bruel wrote in his announcement, according to Var Actu. Several mayors along the tour's route, including in cities where dates were planned, had already called for the shows to be cancelled before Bruel's announcement, the outlet reported.
