The site was opened on Thursday, July 2, as part of the Prince’s Government’s ongoing policy of support for people with disabilities.
Designed for people with disabilities, whether accompanied or independent, Handiplage allows visitors to enjoy swimming at Larvotto in conditions of safety, comfort and proper assistance.
The initiative has been in place in Monaco for more than twenty years, originally launched at the request of the Club Soroptimist. Today, the service is organised by the Direction de l’Action et de l’Aide Sociales, which coordinates a dedicated team of six handiplagistes throughout the summer season.
Open from June 29 until August 30, the Larvotto Handiplage site is equipped with four tiralos, specially adapted amphibious chairs that allow users with reduced mobility to access the sea. The site also offers an accessible shower fitted with a PMR seat, as well as two adapted sun loungers designed to improve comfort and autonomy for visitors.

The service is available from 10am to 6pm during the week, and from 9am to 7pm at weekends. Beneficiaries can also request a three-hour parking pass, helping to make access to the beach more convenient from arrival.
In a destination so closely tied to the sea, the return of Handiplage is a reminder that accessibility is not an extra detail, but an essential part of public life. Larvotto is one of Monaco’s most loved coastal spaces, and this initiative ensures that more people are able to enjoy it with dignity, independence and support.
The 2026 season forms part of the Government’s continued commitment to strengthening accessibility across the Principality and improving the welcome offered to people with disabilities.
