Free electric night shuttles have returned to Monaco this summer, helping residents and visitors reach home safely after an evening in the Principality.
The service is being operated through a renewed partnership between Be Safe Monaco and Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer for the third consecutive year.
The agreement was signed by SBM Chairman and Chief Executive Stéphane Valeri and Be Safe Monaco President Camille Gottlieb. Through the initiative, SBM’s professional drivers are made available to the association on a rotating basis throughout the summer.
Operating since Wednesday, July 1, the shuttles run from Wednesday to Sunday between midnight and 5.30am. The free service will continue until Monday, August 31, transporting customers from Monaco’s nightlife venues to their homes within the Principality.
Since the partnership was introduced in April 2024, SBM drivers have taken 741 people home safely. The service assisted 355 passengers during its first summer and 386 the following year, suggesting that awareness—and trust in the scheme—is continuing to grow.
Be Safe Monaco was founded in 2017 by Camille Gottlieb and four friends following the death of their friend Alexis Jacquemond in a scooter accident after a night out.
The association works to prevent drink-driving through nightclub awareness campaigns, educational programmes and the distribution of breathalyser tests. Its electric shuttle service has become one of its most visible and practical initiatives.
The partnership with Monaco’s largest hospitality group provides Be Safe with trained drivers accustomed to working late hours, while allowing SBM to support a cause directly connected to the safety of the Principality’s nightlife community.
Monaco’s summer evenings are built around restaurants, music and celebration. The renewed service offers something rather less glamorous but considerably more valuable: a safe journey home.
