Cross-party Alpes-Maritimes officials demand 100 more national police officers

Around thirty elected officials, including Nice mayor Éric Ciotti and several MPs, co-signed a letter to Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez requesting reinforcements at the year-end staffing round, noting the department currently counts around 2,340 national police officers.

Around thirty elected officials from across the Alpes-Maritimes political spectrum co-signed a letter to Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez on Tuesday, requesting the assignment of at least 100 additional national police officers to the department at the next end-of-year staffing round.

The initiative, led by MP Cyril Tribuiani, brought together deputies, a senator, mayors, and regional, departmental and metropolitan councillors spanning multiple political parties. Signatories included Nice mayor and Métropole Nice Côte d'Azur president Éric Ciotti, deputies Bernard Chaix, Christelle d'Intorni, Éric Pauget, Lionel Tivoli and Gabriel Tomatis, and senator Henri Leroy.

The letter states that around 2,340 national police officers are currently assigned to the Alpes-Maritimes, and calls on the ministry to respond favourably to the request for reinforcement.
